Atlanta Black Theatre Festival

Hands up if you are excited for Labor Day too! There are many fun things to do, especially in Atlanta, and to be honest, it is hard to pick which one to attend. (Is it too much to wish we could join everything all at once?) But perhaps, nothing would match a day of indulging in art and culture.

At their heart, art and culture are some of the most important, dynamic, participatory, and social factors that bond us as a community. Together, they have the power to inspire empathy, debate, contemplation, and new connections and concepts. Lucky for us, we can indulge in all the art and culture at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival this Labor Day Weekend, from September 1 to September 4!

The Atlanta Black Theatre Festival is a renowned collection and celebration of curated shows. It's a four-day event filled with world-class performances, lively panel discussions, film screenings, master courses, staged readings of brand-new works, food vendors, a Black art expo and marketplace, and much more!

The one-woman play Journey by Jeneen Hammond stands out in this year's lineup. Expect heartfelt performances of classic and Gospel spirituals and a riveting narrative that resurrects the beauty of life, faith, and cultural history. This is a lovely collection of inspiring human stories. Of course, don't miss the Daughter of the King: The Musical and Eunice in Paris!

Visit the Southwest Arts Center's front lawn on Saturday to take in a must-see market! You can find vendors at the ABTF Black Art Expo & Market with a distinctive range of wearable, fine, and visual art. Plus, there will be a Renaissance Jazz Brunch, too.
