Halloween in the Highlands
The origins of Halloween date back to the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain, which was celebrated on November 1 in modern calendars. People dressed up in costumes and lit bonfires to ward off spirits on that day, as it was believed that the souls of the dead returned to their homes.
Today, Halloween is a day where you dress up in whatever costume you wish. You can have a bit of a comedic flair, channel your favorite superheroes, or look the part of your favorite characters. When it comes to Halloween, the sky is truly the limit as long as your creative juices are flowing! When you are all set and ready to go, you come knocking on doors, say "Trick or treat!" and ask for candies and desserts.

The annual fright fest has been a success so far - did you know the tickets sold out just 10 days in advance last year? It is truly what most Atlantans look forward to during the spooky season. This year, the freakiest block party commences on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 6:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M. at Virginia Highland!
