If you’ve also missed joining outdoor events and activities, the Kirkwood Spring Fling and Tour of Homes will surely make up for all the lost time as it comes back on its 2oth year on May 13, 2023 at Bessie Branham Park. This event celebrates Atlanta's historic and vibrant Kirkwood neighborhood. It’s open to everyone, especially residents from across the metro area, and provides an opportunity to get out, party, and explore with friends they haven't seen in a year.
This year’s festivities will start with a Kick-off Party presented by Good Food & Co. on May 12 at the Le Petite Marché. With every purchase of a ticket worth $75, you can join Mayor Andre Dickens and other special guests and indulge in a special menu curated by co-owner and executive chef Anthony Sanders, as well as wine and other delectable treats from Vin ATL and Evergreen Butcher + Baker!
On May 13, the first event on the itinerary will be the 5K Road Race presented by Slam Plumbing, which will kick off at 8:30 A.M., as per tradition! This race will run through the heart of the historic Kirkwood district. You’re free to run with your pets and bring strollers for them as well! All runners who will sign up for the 5K Road Race will receive a free beer or sangria ticket to use at the Spring Fling Festival after the race, plus a complementary race shirt.
Up next is the Tour of Homes presented by Jrich Atlanta. Here, you can explore Kirkwood's historic homes, new construction, and imaginative renovations! Interior design and outdoor spaces will also be on display for your viewing pleasure! Tickets are required for anyone who wishes to join this year’s Tour of Homes event, so purchase them first to secure your slots!
Another exciting event on this year’s Kirkwood Spring Fling and Tour of Homes is Wing Fling. This special event will introduce the search for the Kirkwood Wing Fling Champion, so make sure to bring out your best wing game! This year, you will still be able to cook on-site, so put on your apron and prepare to serve 110 of your best wings to Atlanta's most enthusiastic wing connoisseurs. Everyone is encouraged to sign up to compete and join the fun! As for sponsors, you can also get the chance to have your name on the event, choose a judge, and be recognized on stage if you apply as a sponsor!
This festival is also perfect for families, as there’s a designated Kids Area, huge thanks to Juno Medical! Located in the center of the play field, with fun activities for younger festival-goers, with presale or day-of tickets or wristbands available at a nearby tent.
If you fancy a souvenir made by local artists, stop by the Artist Market, which sprawls around the streets around Bessie Branham Park and features over 150 artists selling their products. You can also grab a bite and a drink from the food trucks and carts that cover an entire street along the east edge of the park to serve tasty treats to hungry and thirsty festival-goers.
This event is hosted by the Kirkwood Neighbors Organization, a 501c3 dedicated to community building. All proceeds of the Kirkwood Spring Fling and Tour of Homes are used to support initiatives ranging from school and park improvements to resident assistance programs such as Neighbor in Need.
