Move in the spirit at the Atlanta African Dance & Drum Festival on July 21-23!
Atlanta truly doesn’t fall short in hosting events that highlight and celebrate its vivid culture, and the Atlanta African Dance & Drum Festival is its living testament. Known as the top event in the area, it features some of the most renowned teachers of African dances who provide a captivating program of dances from West Africa, Cuba/Nigeria, and other regions. Moreover, it also includes a children's camp, an African inspired craft market, food vendors, and a finale concert, being put on by the Afrikan Djeli Cultural Institute as part of its ongoing efforts to promote African art, culture, and traditions.
Happening from July 21 to 23, 2023 at Moving in the Spirit, this annual premiere workshop promotes the art, culture and traditions of Africa through classes, performances, and activities. The confirmed artists include Djeneba Sako, Youssouf Koumbassa, Diadie Bathily, Eric Blibi Gore, Kelly White, Magatte Fall, Aiyetoro Kamau, Amamansa Whitten, and Idy Ciss.
Instructors, on the other hand, include the best talents in African and African Diasporic dance, such as Youssouf Koumbassa, Djeneba Sako, Moussa Traore, Kelly White, and Eric Gore. All single classes cost $20. For the full class schedule, you may view it here.
Tickets to the Atlanta African Dance & Drum Festival range from $85 for a single-day pass to $175 for an all-access package. You can also send in your donations for as low as $10 or purchase the official t-shirts for $25.
