Atlanta’s biggest free jazz festival is here – are you ready?
For 46 long years, Atlanta Jazz Festival has been gracing Atlanta with its vibrant celebration of music, art, and culture. This May 27 to 29, 2023, it will once again grace Piedmont Park just in time for Memorial Day weekend!
Since its foundation in 1977, the Atlanta Jazz Festival aims to introduce and entertain a diverse audience of Jazz fans, young Jazz fans, and aspiring musicians to the rich heritage and variety of Jazz as an authentic form of American music. This year, 15 talented artists will liven up the stage!
On May 27, you will see Lakecia Benjamin, Tony Hightower, David Sanchez, Samara Joy, and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. The line-up on the next day, May 28 will be Séléne Saint-Aimé, Brandee Younger, Javon Jackson and the Gospel According to Nikki Giovanni, José James, and Stanley Clarke N 4ever. On the last day of the festival, you can watch performances by Satya, James Francies Trio, Brenda Nicole Moorer, Chief Xian Atunde Adjuah (Formerly Christian Scott), and Ledisi.
This year also features a signature artwork by artist Alex Brewer, who you may also know as HENSE! His work includes vibrant, colorful abstract paintings and monumental wall pieces. He creates public works all over the world using a combination of graffiti writing techniques and the formal language of abstract painting. T-shirts and posters featuring his vibrant artwork are available in the Piedmont Park vendor area and on the festival website.
More than the live music and artwork, there are other activities available at this year’s Atlanta Jazz Festival, including a KidZone where your children can play and have fun! If you fancy a bite, there’s a wide variety of food vendors to satiate your taste buds, from BBQ, gyros, burgers, Caribbean cuisine, and more! The vendor booths also feature one-of-a-kind products such as art, clothing, and jewelry.
