Run Like Hell 5K

Ready, get set, and race to Oakland Cemetery on April 8, 2023, for the Run Like Hell 5K Race!

Run Like Hell is one of Atlanta’s popular neighborhood 5K fundraisers, with all proceeds benefiting the renovation and conservation of historic Oakland Cemetery. This year’s race returns to Oakland in the Spring to highlight the beauty of the city’s gardens. Witness the picturesque sights of the historic cemetery ablaze in the colors of Spring. At the same time, you’re encouraged to “run like hell” and earn top times or costume contests.

All participants who register here will receive a commemorative Run Like Hell 5K t-shirt and be eligible for awards and prizes. You can also bring your beloved fur babies and run with them if you put them on a leash or a stroller. Don’t forget to dress up in your favorite costumes as well, since prizes will be given after the race! The Run Like Hell costume contest will award the most creative costumes in the following categories:

  • Best Adult Individual
  • Best Youth Individual
  • Best Group
  • Best Dog

Awards will be given to runners in the following divisions: the overall male, female, and non-binary; the overall Masters male, female, and non-binary; and the top three male, female, and non-binary age group winners in 14 age groups from 10 & under to 70 & over.

If you think the fun is over once you reach the finish line, there’s more waiting for you. The Run Like Hell 5K after-party at Republic Social House will help quench your thirst after a tiring race. This neighborhood hangout, located directly across from Oakland, has reserved its covered rooftop overlooking the cemetery exclusively for race participants. Individuals who arrive wearing their race number will receive one free beer from SweetWater Brewing Company. Republic’s full dinner menu will also be available for purchase. The after-party will include swag giveaways and specialty gifts from race sponsors and Oakland’s Museum Store.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before race time to stretch and prepare to run. Because there is limited street parking around Oakland Cemetery, it is best to use rideshare or MARTA when visiting the site. (King Memorial MARTA Station is a short walk from Oakland Cemetery).
