Dogs are indeed man's best friend, but they also make great running buddies!
Deciding to finally get a dog is a huge commitment, but it's worth it. Dogs provide us company and shower us with unconditional love expressed in their every bark. But did you know that exercising with your beloved fur babies is also essential, just like it is for us?
Exercising your dogs keeps them healthy and limber while reducing behavioral issues like excessive licking, barking, chewing, digging, and other anxiety-related behaviors. It also helps them build trust and confidence in you and their surroundings. If you're looking for the perfect way to bond and stay fit with your dog, the Run With the Dogs 5K race is for you!
Run With the Dogs 5K is an annual run hosted by the Decatur Bulldogs Boosters. It aims to raise funds for the athletic programs at Decatur High School and Beacon Hill Middle School. It's one of the club's largest fundraisers, and everyone is encouraged to join, no matter their age! The 5K race will start at 9 A.M. at Beacon Hill Middle School, while the 1-mile Pup Trot will kick off at 8:30 A.M. It will run through the exciting Decatur neighborhoods, McDonough-Adams-Kings Highway (MAK) and Oakhurst. There will be awards to be given after the race too!
You can register for the race here. Meanwhile, entry fees are as follows:
All participants who register before January 15 will receive long-sleeved T-shirts designed by local artist Adam Pinsley.
Every year, the Boosters raise funds to meet the needs of student athletes, such as uniforms and equipment. These funds support 685 student athletes from Decatur and Beacon Hill's 25 teams representing 14 sports.
