To ensure the safety of all participants, Sweet Auburn Springfest requests all attendees to adhere to the following protocols:
This annual festival aims to help revive and restore Historic Auburn Avenue to its rightful honor as the Greatest Street on the Planet by constructing the world's grandest promenade connecting the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site to become a center for civil and human rights, as well as to transform the Sweet Auburn Viaduct into a world-class tourist and residential destination. Moreover, it pays homage to the late founder of the festival, Charles E. Johnson.
The Historic Sweet Auburn District reflects the history, heritage, and achievements of African Americans in Atlanta. The name was coined after John Wesly Dobbs referred to it as the “richest Negro street in the world”. This is where many African Americans had the opportunity to establish businesses, congregations, and social organizations in this area.
You can also sign up to volunteer for the program to help further the initiative of the festival.
