It’s back for another year of music, arts, and community!
Virginia Highland Porchfest is rocking and rolling for its 2nd year as it kicks off on Saturday, May 20, 2023 – and it aims to top last year’s event! It will bring over 20,000 residents to bond together over the sumptuous food and drinks, 75 bands performing on 55 porches throughout the neighborhood, and other activities such as the Kids Corner and Rock n Run!
The event will start with the Rock n Run, where you can dress up as your favorite band or musician as you run for 1.09 miles! The Fun Run circles the festival grounds, with prizes for race winners in each category, including Best Costume for both individual and group categories. If you want to run longer, you can circle the path three times to complete a 5k run! Registration to the Rock n Run will begin at 11 AM, but the booth on Barnett near John Howell Park will open at 10 AM. Registration fee will be $25 for all runners over the age of 12 and includes a goody bag at the finish line.
If you’re feeling hungry and parched after a long run, you can head over to the food trucks that will be all over the neighborhood. You can taste the best local food from vendors such as Amorous Tacos, Dogs on Wheels, Queen Churro, and Bento Bus! You can also stop by and check out the products offered by local vendors and artists like 365 Decor, Cherie Coco, and Oxide Studio for a keepsake of the day that you can take home!
Since the Porchfest is a family-friendly event, your little Porchfest goers can have some fun in the sun at the Kids Corner from 10 AM to 4 PM! They can explore the paid activities (which starts at $5) including bounce houses, a magician, balloon animals, arts and crafts, and bubbles. There will also be a magic show that will take place at 11:30, 12:30, and 1:30 PM.
This event is brought to you by the Virginia Highland District Association, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization formed to design, develop, and implement community engagement and economic development strategies, as well as to advocate for a robust and diverse business corridor with strong ties to the public and private sectors.
