Oh, August has come once again. In the city of Atlanta, a telltale sign for this month is the weather. During this month, the city turns into a hot, humid area - and trust us, you would need more than ice creams and sherbets to cool it off.
Let’s not be so negative, though, especially since this month also gives us one of our favorite events to look forward to: the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival! Atlantans who enjoy art and music have gathered at Grant Park for almost 20 years to say goodbye to summer at the Summer Shade Festival. On August 27 and 28, 2022, the festival comes back to celebrate their 20th year anniversary!
An artisan market, food trucks, craft beer, a kids' zone, and an exciting music lineup are all waiting at the event, for your outdoor entertainment!
Meet and get a chance to support more than 200 artisans and craftsmen as they sell their handmade crafts and works, such as sculptures, photography, oil paintings to jewelry, silver, metalwork, wood products, and more.
They are also open until 7 PM, so make sure to check as many vendors as you can!
You will also find festival food staples, like funnel cakes and corn dogs there too, courtesy of our food vendors! Or, you can go for more nutritious options like chopped salads and frozen yogurt. The 2022 menu vendors consist of:
...and many more!
This year's Kids Zone offers a ton of free activities, including stations for arts and crafts. The bungee trampoline, obstacle course, gigantic slide, and toddler's playland are all available for the kids, with the purchase of tickets or an unlimited activity wristband.
Admission is free, and the festival hours are as follows:
Saturday, August 27 — 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday, August 28 — 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
